Course Description:
As a beginner in Qigong, you will learn basic exercises to relax your body and mind that you can practice on your own. You will gain greater access to quieting your mind in challenging situations and when you are under pressure, and have an experience of being more centered in your body when doing your daily tasks. We practice both stationary qigong, movements that follow form and spontaneous, free movements, and you will get a solid introduction to all the variations. You will also become acquainted with the philosophy and principles behind Qigong and Daoist philosophy. The course runs over 10 weeks of 1.5 hours, and the classes are led by Pamela Hiley, one of the most experienced Taiji and Qigong teachers in Europe.
Daoist Sitting Baduanjin Brocades
The energy field of sitting and meditating together is enormously beneficial. Here is an opprtunity to deepen your meditative practice and nurture cultivation of qi with presence and energy together.
Baduanjin sitting meditation from Wudangshan is a quiet yet potent practice, rooted in Daoist cultivation and the mountain’s long tradition of inner alchemy. Performed seated and still, it refines the classic Eight Brocades into subtle breath, intention, and spinal awareness, allowing qi to circulate gently through the meridians. Rather than expressing power outwardly, the practice turns inward, calming the mind, nourishing the organs, and aligning body and spirit with the natural rhythm of the Dao
It is possible to learn these practices sitting on a chair for support if needs be.
